Detroit — A car hauler that caught fire early Friday afternoon has caused a partial shutdown of eastbound Interstate 94 near Cadieux, police said.

Lt. Mike Shaw, a spokesman for the Michigan State Police, said authorities are waiting for the fire department to put it out and “then they will check the integrity of the freeway and then reopen it.”

Shaw said no one was injured when the car hauler caught ablaze and he does not know how the fire started.

But Shaw said it’s a common occurrence on the area freeways.
