A man died Tuesday when his car ran into the back of a semitrailer on northbound Interstate 75 at Livernois.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. Tuesday, said Lt. Michael Shaw of the Michigan State Police.

“It appears that traffic had slowed down due to rush-hour conditions and the vehicle didn’t stop in enough time behind the semi truck,” Shaw said. “We aren’t quite sure yet.”

Northbound lanes reopened shortly before 7 p.m.

The identity of the man will likely be released Wednesday morning, Shaw said.
