Most barflies who frequent downtown Detroit known about Steve’s Place, the quiet watering hole next to Saint Andrew’s Hall that has been run by Steve and Sophie Francis for decades.
Bartender and owner Steve Francis — who was known for offering sweet shots of schnapps to customers — died Tuesday at age 90. A Go Fund Me page has been established to help Sophie return to Greece where Steve will be buried, and where she will relocated to so she can live with family.
