Whether lending an ear, championing her favorite causes, helping colleagues or lavishing attention on relatives, Sarah Little was known as a caring soul.

“She was definitely the person you could count on,” said her son, Thorne Lesinski. “If you needed someone to drop everything and help you, she was that person.”

Miss Little died Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, following a heart attack. She was 42.

The Howell native’s spirit marked much of her pursuits, including spending years participating in local Relay for Life events that support cancer research and joining an associated planning and committee board, relatives said.

“She really liked the cause,” Lesinski said. “She was dedicated to it.”

Miss Little also was loyal to loved ones, regularly baking a special cake for Thanksgiving gatherings, whipping up cherry-topped chocolate cookies at Christmas, celebrating “princess parties” with her niece, Scarlet, or indulging in Halloween festivities.

“She didn’t miss any family events,” said her mother, Juanita Little. “She was a very strong individual, but she had such a soft heart. She was really good to people.”

Born June 7, 1976, in Dearborn, Miss Little was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Howell High School in 1994.

She later juggled classes while working full-time and raising her son to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from Cleary University, relatives said.

“She was very decisive about working hard,” said her father, Tom Little. “She was very driven.”

Miss Little became a claims adjuster for York Risk Services in Howell.

She loved reading, camping, playing euchre with friends, bonfires and enjoying the outdoors with her “fur babies,” Rex and Callie.

She also made time to check up on relatives, offer advice or open her home to them.

“She was always sacrificing so she could help other people,” said her brother, Tom Little.

Other survivors include siblings Juanita Little, Heather Todd, Audrey Bowen, Kristen Thompson and Brian Little.

Visitation is scheduled for 2-8 p.m. Thursday at MacDonald’s Funeral Home, 315 N. Michigan Avenue, Howell.

A Mass of the Resurrection is 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 E. Washington, Howell. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. at the church.
