Letter: Bill Schuette picks wrong priorities
Not my job?
When the city of Detroit asked our attorney general to examine a predatory loan to the city, the response was “not my job.” When ordinary citizens were ripped-off by loan-sharking lenders and had their cars repossessed (for auto title loans, which are illegal in Michigan), the response was, “not my job.”
Meanwhile, several other attorneys general had effectively managed to shut down this practice, in their states.
However, when his conservative electoral base wanted him to squander Michigan’s limited resources, to fight against marriage equality, he had no problem taking it all the way to the U. S. Supreme Court “to defend the state constitution.”
