Tax reform helps farming community
Michigan businesses are already reaping the benefits from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Fiat Chrysler recently announced $2,000 bonuses for 60,000 employees, while several Michigan energy companies will use their tax savings to lower utility bills.
But don’t forget the farm community. Not only are Michigan’s farm owners seeing lower rates across the board, but the Republican tax bill also doubled the estate- and gift-tax exemption for farm owners passing on land and other assets to their heirs. The exemptions now stand at nearly $11.2 million per individual and $22.4 million per married couple, drastically reducing the number of farm owners who owe estate and gift taxes.
When you own dozens or hundreds of acres of farmland, the dollar value of your assets quickly adds up. The estate tax exemption plays a major role in keeping family farms intact, eliminating the need for a fire sale to cover a massive tax burden. And when farm owners give less of their hard-earned money to the federal government, they’re left with more money to hire workers, invest in new machinery, and expand farm operations.

I’m happy with Trump
Regarding Stormy Daniels: So President Trump needed to manage an old flame because he was running. I’m not suggesting it didn’t happen, but there’s an air of constant effort to disrupt this president, who is doing things no other politician could ever manage.
I’d like to judge on results, and so far his first year accomplishments are major and in sync with his pledges. I’m good with the judges he has chosen, and with tax reform. I’m good with Israel. I’m good with efforts to undo bad Russian and North Korea relations. I’m good with ISIS results. I’m good with the mandate repeal. That’s a lot in one year of constant media negativity.
Hollywood hypocritical about #MeToo
Until women of Hollywood like Jennifer Lawrence stop making pornographic films like Red Sparrow and movie goers stop regarding “pushing the limits of sex and violence” as art, all the #MeToo movements and sexual harassment lawsuits in the world will have minimal effect. The hypocrisy, greed, and moral bankruptcy of Hollywood and much of the music industry is beyond comprehension.
