Opinion: Roads will get fixed by winter

Let there be no confusion, east and westbound 696 and all ramps will be open by winter. MDOT’s Diane Cross told us on my morning radio show that weather will only affect whether the repairs before winter are able to be permanent or not.

Whether concrete be able to be poured (permanent) or asphalt (temporary), Cross and MDOT don’t want you to worry.

I imagine the next thing to be figured out is who will be stuck with the bill if in fact, asphalt is poured now and has to be ripped up in the spring to make way for the concrete.

We will leave it up to our fine attorney general, Bill Schuette, to factor in the three-week road building standoff and it’s role in this eventual outcome. Just as long as we don’t end up having to pay more for all of this.

While in Ann Arbor for a Michigan game, we made the pilgrimage to Zingerman’s, always a favorite stop. There, on the well-stocked shelf, calling out my name, was an olive oil from France I had never heard of, Nicolas ALZIARI, Cuvée Prestige and Cuvée Pauline. So good!

As I looked to order more on Zingerman’s website, I stumbled onto their “Bacon All Year Club…The Year of living baconly!” Twelve months of artisan bacon, delivered to your doorstep.

Joining the bacon maven’s club of choice is not cheap, $400 for a year's worth of bringing home the bacon.
