It’s my annual Thanksgiving Day in August!

A day of giving thanks to all of the people that made our 16th Annual Paul W. Smith Classic Benefiting Children’s Charities a great success.

This year, through our wonderful and deserving charities and their leaders, some 55,000 children will benefit from the philanthropy of our fabulous sponsors.

Adults and children ride the Yo-Yo at the Oakland County Fair.

Thanks to Robert Jamerson, CEO of Detroit PAL; Larry Burns, President & CEO Children’s Foundation; Debora Mathews, President & CEO The Children’s Center; and Michelle J. Murphy, Executive Director Variety Detroit, the Children’s charity. And thanks to all of the employees and volunteers they represent who are on the front lines making a difference in the lives of all these kids.

Thanks to my incredible wife Kim for her help in all I do; to our children, Adam, Jamie, Natalie and Sophie for their support in so many ways, including passing out refreshments and snacks to the golfers, along with my sister Alison Avendt and even Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, who joins us year after year.

Special thanks to the Campbell Marketing and The Children’s Foundation teams for making everything work seamlessly.

We truly couldn’t be successful without our Title Sponsor NewsTalk 760 WJR, Tournament Sponsor Ford Motor Company and our beloved Presenting Sponsors: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, DTE Foundation, FCA, General Motors, LEAR Corporation and Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A..

Great thanks to our major level sponsors: Our official airline, Delta; official golf equipment sponsor, Bridgestone America’s Tire Operations; Absopure; UHY; Comerica; DOW; The Suburban Collection; Hoot McInerney’s Star Lincoln; Quicken Loans; DANA; AAM; and Meijer.

Thanks to our contest sponsors : Ahee Jewelers, Farm Bureau, Grand Hotel and Park West Gallery.

And thanks for the great music provided by Simone Vitale Band!
