Bankole Thompson: Detroit activists need to do more than protest this year

The new year is upon us, so activists should keep in mind that empty protests without realistic solutions won’t revitalize the city for Detroiters who have been left on the economic margins.

Levying demands for change without truly investing in the work to bring about necessary reforms won’t bring equality to those most in need. It will simply garner headlines for a day or two. That’s it.
