The deadly shooting at Oxford High School in Oakland County this week that claimed the lives of four students, Hana St. Juliana, 14, Madisyn Baldwin, 17, Tate Myre, 16, and Justin Shilling, 17, and left seven wounded is a stark reminder that gun violence has no borders.

While Detroit is statistically less safe than the suburbs, and remains among the nation’s top violent cities according to the FBI uniform crime report, it doesn’t make communities like Oxford immune to the menace of gun violence.
