Artist featured in N.Y. mag for work with rockers
Gerard Marti, an artist and art director of Birmingham’s prestigious Robert Kidd Gallery, is kind of a rock star, or at least quite familiar with moving and shaking in rock star circles. Not only does he take credit for encouraging legendary rocker Steven Tyler and actress Kim Bassinger to start painting, he’s also the one who snagged agreements for the Robert Kidd Gallery to exclusively sell the artwork of such well-known musicians as Mick Fleetwood (fine art photography), Paul McCartney (paintings and prints), Ringo Starr (prints), and Jerry Garcia (paintings). You can read more about Gerard Marti in this month’s New York-based Alice Magazine, known for its fusion of rock ‘n’ roll, fashion and art.
Harley-Davidson destination experience on the way
You’d think Tom Celani’s plate is already full enough, but the Metro Detroit business tycoon is constantly adding something new to the mix. He’s the founder of Luna Entertainment, which serves as the platform for gaming projects in California, Colorado and Oklahoma; he founded Celani Family Vineyards in 2005, whose wine can be found at the country’s best restaurants; and Celani also owns Motor City Power Sports and Brighton Harley-Davidson. Most recently, he announced his plans to build a Harley-Davidson superstore dealership and Harley-Davidson destination experience at the former Sam’s Club site in Farmington Hills.
“The 106,000-square-foot complex on 10 acres will create a unique customer experience by combining Harley-Davidson motorcycles, a brew pub-style restaurant, a gourmet market, and live music to embody the Harley-Davidson lifestyle,” explains Celani, who also owns Freedom Hill Amphitheatre in Sterling Heights.
Word is that the new dealership will open by September, reportedly costing a whopping $8 mil.
“We are making a major investment back into the community that Motor City Harley-Davidson has called home for the past 17 years,” says Celani. “The new Motor City Harley-Davidson will become a gathering place for riders who love the Harley-Davidson lifestyle.”
Monica Morgan part of Global Women’s Summit
Constantly on the move, Detroit celebrity photo journalist Monica Morgan made the front page of a Kenyan daily newspaper yesterday. She was a panelist in the Global Women’s Summit that took place in Nairobi, Kenya, on Tuesday. “I was so honored to be on the panel,” says Morgan. “I love having the opportunity to share with my sisters on a global level. I’m committed to making a difference. This is my passion.”
