Society: Benefit for Children’s Hospital pampers guests
The folks at Children’s Hospital of Michigan wanted their 300 party guests at “Big Shots Little Stars” to indulge in as much pleasure as they could during the three hours of its afterglow following the North American International Auto Show Charity Preview on Friday night. The first indication was supplying each guest a pair of plush white slippers at the front door.
Amidst displays of sparkling new Cadillacs, spa services were offered to guests who really wanted to relax. Others indulged in a variety of food stations that included beef tenderloin, whipped potato bar, taco bar, and a pasta and pizza station. There was also a dessert station and an open bar.
The theme offered a variety of nightclub/pub activities including pool tables, an Operation game table and a lounge-type area. Chanteuse Kimmie Horne and her band performed an amazing show for listening and dancing. There was a pre-reception before the Charity Preview that offered light hors d’oeuvres and cocktails and complimentary shuttle service to and from Cobo Center.
Tickets to “Big Shots Little Stars” were $250 per person. Teamed with a portion of the $5.2 million that was raised at the Charity Preview (Children’s Hospital is one of eight charities that benefits) the funds will directly support pediatric research advancement, pediatric education and also pediatric community programs throughout southeast Michigan.
“What a wonderful evening with good friends and supporters of Children’s Hospital of Michigan to help those patients and families we are so honored to serve,” said Children’s Hospital of Michigan CEO Luanne Thomas Ewald.
Because of events like this, Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation supported 131 grants awarding more than $6.6 million dollars for children’s health programs in 2016. Mable Jones was event board chair.
