An intimate group of art lovers had the chance to enjoy one of Michigan’s premier art collections Thursday, assembled through decades by Rebecca and Alan Ross. The couple's relatively modest Bloomfield Hills bungalow, nearly a stone's throw from Cranbrook, houses lively artwork ranging in medium and variety. Artists in their collection include El Anatsui, Memphis, Scott Reeder, and Jessica Stockholder to name a few.

Alan and Rebecca Ross hosted a dinner party for MOCAD at their art-filled Bloomfield Hills home.

Guests gathered in the backyard at an oblong dining table adjacent to the swimming pool. Rebecca Ross escorted partygoers on personal art tours throughout the home. Without question, the residence exemplifies a household that naturally coexists with art. Their practice begs the rare question, "Is their home an art gallery or is their art gallery their home?"

Chef Jeff Rose from CAYA Smokehouse Grill grilled lamb chops for dinner

While taking in one of the most impressive cutting-edge artwork collections in the area, guests relished in a strolling dinner by chef Jeff Rose, owner of CAYA Smokehouse Grill, including smoked salmon and succulent grilled lamb chops, accompanied by a variety of wines. Profound conversations about art were the highlight of the evening.

The dinner party was part of the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit’s Fifth Annual Interchange Art + Dinner Series. Detroit’s most avid art collectors and supporters open their homes and spaces for a range of exclusive evenings combining food, drink and art to create truly unique experiences. This array of unique and diverse events unites like-minded members of the community to benefit MOCAD and the ever-thriving creativity in the city of Detroit. Prices to the dinners vary.
