NBA pals help Rick Mahorn of Detroit Pistons celebrate 60

Rick Mahorn, the Detroit Pistons baddest Bad Boy, celebrated his 60th birthday last week with a festive party hosted by his wife, Donyale, and their children. About 75 guests gathered in the lovely Rochester Hills home of friends of Rick and Donyale’s. There were cocktails, birthday cake and a delectable spread of food including ribs, chicken, mac and cheese, greens and spaghetti and meat balls. A highlight of the evening was watching the videos that guests were asked to make honoring Rick’s big day. Former NBA players in the house included Vinnie Johnson, Paris McCurdy, Derrick Coleman, James “Buddah” Edwards, Earl Cureton and Walker D. Russell. … And many more to you, Rick.

Birthday getaway turns into wedding plans

WDIV anchor, Rhonda Walker and fiancee Jason Drumheller

When the darling of Detroit’s morning TV, Rhonda Walker, dashed away last week, she thought she was going to celebrate the birthday of her longtime BF, Morgan Stanley wealth manager Jason Drumheller. Jason had other goals in mind. The lovebirds arrived at their reserved suite at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel overlooking the Atlantic. The entire suite was lavished with rose petals and candles. “I followed the rose petals out to the balcony, where he dropped to one knee and said, ‘The only gift I want for my birthday is for you to be with me for the rest of my life.’  Through tears of joy, I said, 'Yes,' ” says Rhonda. He also presented her with a breathtaking yellow cushion-cut diamond from Ahee Jewelers in Grosse Pointe. Congrats. A wedding date has not been set.
