Motown heads to Spirit of Detroit Plaza for theme day
The Motown Museum is promoting the first-ever Motown themed day at the Spirit of Detroit Plaza on Friday. The event will take place from 4-8 p.m. in front of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center. It will feature live music, poetry, dancing and food. The intention of the Spirit of Detroit Plaza programs is to celebrate community, strengthen partnerships, encourage connectivity and highlight special talent in the city. There will be featured music performances from Gwen Fox, The Drew Schultz Trio, Depeilia Hill, and Jharid Collins. Spoken-word artists taking the stage will include Mic Phelps, Will Langford and Motown Mic: The Spoken Word Winners, and a special performance by Abstract Soul, a group of students who emerged from summer camp. Event organizers promise lots of dancing in the street. Visit Motownmuseum.org.
Watch TV just like the rich and famous do
When Michael Guyton started his custom home theater and video surveillance business, Coming Attractions, nearly 10 years ago, he had no idea that he would quickly become the go-to source for many local celebs and the high profiler. He’s installed custom audio and visual systems for Lions coach Matt Patricia, Pistons coach Dwane Casey, Lions linebacker Jarrad Davis, comedian Mike Epps, dealership owner Dick Scott, and gospel singer J. Moss. A bonus for Mike is that after his installations, he inevitably becomes friends with his clients. In many cases, you might often find him enjoying the fruits of his labor in the custom home theater of one of Metro Detroit’s most prominent citizens.
