Society Confidential: Phillip Plein styles get Michigan sneak peek
Rockin' Phillip Plein styles get Michigan sneak peek
Local fashionista Enid Goodman met and befriended cutting-edge German fashion designer Phillip Plein at a restaurant in Paris two years ago. Little did she know that she’d one day host a trunk show of his celebrated 2018 Fall Winter runway collection at her chic Bloomfield Hills home. On Friday, Enid invited about 30 people to experience the Phillip Plein collection over champagne, cocktails, tenderloin, sushi and salmon. Plein wasn’t there, but he sent his VIP client manager, Jack Bedirian, an assistant, and 10 boxes of garments. More than five of those boxes were sold to Enid’s guests. Unfortunately, Plein’s collection, which features edgy silhouettes, impeccable tailoring, and luxurious fabrics, is not available in Michigan. But thanks to Enid, more local folks will be spotted sporting the rock 'n' roll-type collection around town. In the U.S., Plein has stores in Miami, Las Vegas, New York, and on Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles.
Coming soon: Another bistro in downtown Detroit
We’ve been hearing rumblings that the Mark Zarkin Restaurant Group is about to open a cool new, casual, mid-priced bistro in the heart of downtown Detroit. We’re told they’ll serve up big bowls of pasta, steak, ribs and such for between $6-$20. The place is spacious and will have outdoor dining in the warm months. We contacted Zarkin, who owns Lelli’s on the Green, but he would only say, “I won’t deny it.” We might have to dash out to Lelli’s and corner him for more details. Stay tuned.
Unwind at Black Tuesday parties starting Nov. 13
Democratic senator nominee Marshall Bullock and businessman Dennis Archer Jr. will host a monthly party called Black Tuesday beginning Nov. 13. “It’s an opportunity for professionals to network and unwind in a pleasing atmosphere,” says Bullock. The first event will be held at Baker’s Keyboard Lounge, featuring music from the 313 Live Experience.
