Birthday costume party nets gifts for Variety Children’s Charity

Liz Cutraro hosted her annual costume/birthday bash for her husband, Nino Cutraro, on Sunday. About 75 people gathered at the Cutraro’s popular Italian restaurant, Bella Piatti in Birmingham, to wish Nino happy birthday over cocktails, very fine wine, lamb chops, shrimp, meatballs, filet kebabs, spinach pie, and hot sliders from Wahlburgers. The Cutraros, by the way, are partners with Mark Wahlberg in several Wahlburgers locations throughout Michigan, Ohio and soon one to come in London.Guests, who danced all night, went all out with costumes, starting with the hosts in Elvis and Dolly Parton outfits. In lieu of gifts, guests loaded up a table with new toys to be donated to Variety Children’s Charity.


Eric Holder speaks at Focus: HOPE event

There are some photo opps that you just don’t let pass you by. When former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder came to town last week to encourage people to Vote YES on Proposal 2, surely one of the highlights of his trip had to be posing with four major female bosses in Detroit. After speaking at an event at Focus: HOPE on Friday afternoon, he stopped to be photographed with Portia Roberson, who used to work with Holder and is now the new CEO of Focus: HOPE; Vern Davis Anthony, former Interim CEO of Focus: HOPE; Linda Little, president and CEO-elect of Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO); and Sheilah Clay, retiring president and CEO of NSO.

Detroit PAL’s Football Championships take to the field Sunday

As you may know, of the 11 sports programs offered by Detroit PAL, football is its largest and longest running, with more than 3,000 youth participants and 800 coaches and volunteers. On Sunday, Detroit PAL’s Football Championships will take place at Ford Field from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets, $5 for adults and $2 for children under 14, are on sale at the Detroit PAL.
