Orchard Lake St. Mary's coach George Porritt feels fortunate to have cornerback Tyson Smith back in the lineup.

Especially since his team faces Birmingham Brother Rice's outstanding passing attack in the Catholic League championship at 7 p.m. Saturday at Ford Field.

"It's a big plus for us to have him back, especially with the kind of offense Brother Rice has, whipping us through the air," Porritt said of Smith (Michigan State). "I feel field position will be a big key. We can't give them a short field to work with."

Quarterback Alex Malzone (Michigan) led Brother Rice to a 28-20 victory over St. Mary's in Week 6, passing for a school-record 419 yards. He hooked up with Grant Perry 14 times for a school-record 257 yards.
