Vaccines aren't working to protect Michigan from this fourth COVID-19 surge. The shots haven't made a dent in the number of cases, deaths or hospitalizations, all of which are at peak levels despite well over half the population being vaccinated.

That's not an indictment of the vaccines — they are saving lives. But it is a reality check of the singular focus on shots as the path out of this pandemic.
