Paul W. Smith: Michigan’s fields of dreams
Ford President and CEO Mark Fields recently joined us on my radio show to announce the fabulous 10-year plan to totally transform their Dearborn properties into an aesthetically pleasing campus.
Executive Chairman Bill Ford, a true trail blazer on supporting sustainability and awareness of the environmental impact of Ford Plants and properties, says the project “incorporates thoughtful ways to improve the environmental footprint of our facilities, while creating a vibrant workplace that inspires our employees.”
Bill Ford did a great job picking Alan Mulally to lead the company back to prosperity, and a great job picking Fields to lead the company into the next century.
I have dubbed the redevelopment of the World Headquarters Campus, “The Fields of Dreams!”
Congratulations to St. Paul on the Lake in Grosse Pointe Farms eighth-grader Tommy Sullivan for “living the dream.” The 14-year-old represented his school and the Country Club of Detroit very well at the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship at Augusta National — just ahead of the world’s best golfers taking over the course for The Masters.
Like another golfer who was 14 years old not that very long ago said he was going to win at The Masters, Tommy is also aiming for a green jacket one day.
I hope you can join my wife, Kim, and me on a “Dream Vacation” to Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea and more, March 22 through April 2, 2017. We will start with two nights at the four-star InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa and then cruise French Polynesia for seven nights aboard the award-winning Gauguin.
