Thanks for your generosity
I do hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope the prognosticators were as wrong as they were during the election in their predictions of strife at the Thanksgiving dinner table over said election.
If not, shame on you. Think for a moment of the many people who did not have the opportunity to be surrounded by family and friends, let alone to sit down to a feast, or any meal at all.
Glad I got that off my chest. And as far as the election goes, It’s over. Move on. This isn’t your America or my America, it’s our America. The United States of America.
■I give thanks for your generosity.
Our 3rd annual WJR/Paul W. Smith Show “Hunger Free in the D” radiothon brought in nearly $400,000 to feed those in need through the good work of The Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Gleaners Community Food Bank, and Forgotten Harvest. We are now over $1,000,000 thanks to Tom and Vicki Celani and The Celani Family Foundation for matching donations dollar for dollar up to $150,000 each year. Special thanks to our sponsors, Lear Corp., Carhartt, Kroger, Cars & Cigars Smoke Detroit, and Dario Bergamo.
■Speaking of Lear Corp., today and Sunday, enjoy “The Nutcracker” at the Detroit Opera House.
Call (313) 237-7464 or go to MichiganOpera.org.
■The 2016-17 dance season is made possible by the Lear Corporation.
■I would never be so presumptuous to tell you not to go see “Bad Santa 2” or “Office Christmas Party,” but I hope and pray they do not make up your total repertoire of this year’s Christmas movie tradition.
Please work “It’s A Wonderful Life” into your Christmas plan.
No matter how many times you’ve seen it.
“The Paul W. Smith Show” is on WJR-AM (760) from 5:30-9 a.m. Monday-Friday.
