Smith: Driving into auto show week
“Outta’ My Mind on a Monday Moanin’”
And so it begins. The 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Press Preview: Today and Tuesday. Over 5,000 credentialed media from over 60 countries get the first look at the show.
Industry Preview: Wednesday and Thursday, featuring a powerful lineup of industry leaders and visionaries, diving headlong into AutoMobili-D, looking at everything from suppliers driving mobility technology to V2I connectivity. Driving home (pun intended) its importance in showing the world Michigan is the mobility capital of the world, Gov. Rick Snyder proclaimed Jan. 14-21 AutoMobili-D week in our great state. Snyder noted “no other event in North America provides an international platform for this vast array of mobility companies, organizations and leaders under one roof.”
No one happier about the proclamation than hard-working 2018 NAIAS Chairman Ryan LaFontaine of LaFontaine Automotive Group: “We’re honored by Gov. Snyder’s proclamation recognizing this amazing exposition of innovative companies all coming to Detroit to learn what the future of the automotive industry will hold.”
Rod Alberts, NAIAS executive director, was thankful for the governor and his team taking such an interest, including Trever Pawl, of Planet M, launching Match Meetings, a business-to-business connection platform that will result in over 300 meetings, connecting startups, venture capital firms, suppliers and automakers. MEDC’s Bob Metzger and Emily Guerrant have been close strategic partners, instrumental in making business and industry connections and creating FACE: Future Automotive Career Exposition. Tune in all week; I have your press credentials for a front row seat.
Paul W. Smith is host of “The Paul W. Smith Show” on WJR-AM (760) from 5:30-9 a.m. Monday-Friday.
