Editorial: High court boosts open government

Michigan's Supreme Court delivered a victory for open government in ruling the state's Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission broke the law in withdrawing behind closed doors to discuss its work with staff attorneys.

The 4-3 decision came in a case filed by several state media outlets, including The Detroit News, that objected to the October secret session and asked that the contents of the meeting be disclosed.
