Last Weekend of LuminoCITY!

By LuminoCITY
360 Beacon and Gateway in Grand Circus Park

Despite the cold temperatures and cloudy skies, the city has been shining brighter than ever this winter! For the past month, downtown Detroit has been playing host to LuminoCITY – a large-scale, interactive art installation that took the city by storm.

Bedrock, Quicken Loans and DTE Energy partnered with Los Angeles-based design firm Stereobot to bring LuminoCITY to the city in order to guide Detroiters and visitors alike to all of the amazing places downtown during the winter season.

LuminoCITY consists of fifteen big, bold and colorful illuminated structures that twist and flow to create a curated light show. The installations light up downtown Detroit while bringing together art, technology, and design to create an unforgettable experience downtown.

You can find installations at the following downtown Detroit locations now through Feb. 18:

  • Capitol Park
  • East & West Grand Circus Park
  • Hart Plaza
  • Hudson’s Site
  • Woodward Ave.

So take advantage of the final days of LuminoCITY and let the sculptures guide you to Detroit’s countless number of unique, innovative bars and restaurants, phenomenal shopping, and exciting events and activities.

Play & Shop

Wherever you see LuminoCITY sculptures, you’ll also find public spaces, shops, restaurants, cultural institutions, galleries, and events to discover and explore.

People are encouraged to watch, touch, photograph and dance with the amazing light structures and share their interactive experiences. While you’re hanging out downtown, be sure to use the LuminoCITY Snapchat filters that are live every weekend and hashtag #WinterInDetroit across all social media platforms.

There are also plenty of other fun things to do along the LuminoCITY route. Whether it’s ice skating in Campus Martius Park, checking out the latest art exhibit at Library Street Collective or getting pampered at The TEN Modern Nail Bar, downtown Detroit truly has something for everybody.

In the mood to do some shopping? Detroit’s Woodward Avenue retail district is a great place to find one-of-a-kind gifts and the latest fashions or just spend the day browsing around with friends.
