Show your pet love all February long.

Our pets show us love every day – and we do the same. But there’s no better time to celebrate that love than on Valentine’s Day.

Our furry friends, of course, can’t enjoy a box of chocolates, but there are many other ways to show them your affection all monthlong.

Here are six ways to show your pets just how much they’re loved.

Make your dog or cat a homemade meal

Many of us will be staying home this Valentine’s Day and, these days, a night out on the town means making room for two on the couch. Still, there’s no better way to celebrate than with a homemade meal – both for humans and pets.

Make your pet a homemade meal with The Honest Kitchen dehydrated foods. Available in flavors that include chicken, turkey, beef and duck, the foods are the perfect addition to any home-prepped meal.

‘Bowl them over’ with treats

Dogs and cats love getting treats – especially when they’re packaged neatly inside a new food bowl.

Choose a red or pink bowl to make their gift even more festive. The Mess Mutt pet bowl is a great option. You can even pair it with a matching food scoop. Fill the bowl with a few packages of your pet’s favorite treats, such as True Chews chewy duck treats for cats, or Sojos Simply Wild Venison treat for dogs.

Also consider adding a few biscuits or cookies that are locally made. These individually wrapped items not only look and taste great, but they also support local businesses.

Give your pet the gift of good oral health

Dental treats can keep your pet's teeth healthy.

Keeping your pet’s teeth healthy can help them avoid problems, such as cavities, broken or lost teeth or periodontal disease.

February is Pet Dental Health Month, so consider putting a dental product on your Valentine’s Day shopping list.

Dogs will enjoy dental chews, such as Himalayan baked cheese chews. You may also consider trying Checkups Dental Dog Treats. They also will love Plaque Off Bones or Feline greenies dental treats.

You also might consider purchasing a new toothbrush for your dog or cat. To celebrate Pet Dental Health Month, Premier Pet Supply will have all of its dental products on sale throughout February.

Buy your dog a new shirt or sweater

It’s still very cold in February, and your dog will appreciate staying warm on his walks when wearing a new shirt or sweater.

Premier Pet Supply has several that you and your dog will love, including the brightly colored tie-dye Canada Pooch hoodie, or the Canada Pooch chenille dog snood. Pair the gift with some matching boots or slippers to keep your dog’s feet warm indoors and out.

Splurge on a new cat condo

Treat your feline friend to a new cat tree.

Give your cat the gift of endless fun with a new tree, condo or scratching post.

Vesper offers a variety of sizes and shapes – from the V-Double, which can accommodate multiple cats at one time, and the smaller V-Stool.

Surprise your pet with a new toy

Dogs and cats not only appreciate new toys, but they also enjoy using them to play with their owners. It’s a great way to bond with your pet daily.

Dogs will love the GoDog Just For Me Fat Rooster, or the Jolly Pets Tug-N-Toss mini dog toy, or the Planet Dog Orbee glow in the dark ball, which will keep them busy for hours. Mad Cat Tabby Taco with silvervine catnip cat toy is also a fun and unique gift idea.

To make the gift even more festive, look for Valentine’s Day themed toys – or wrap any toy in elegant red paper and top with a bright pink bow to make any occasion a special one.
