The city of Detroit knows about industry. For centuries, workers in the area labored to build one of America’s strongest and most resilient cities, and one where the value of hard work is understood to the very foundation.

But there was a dark underside to much of that work. Unknowingly, many laborers were exposed to dangerous materials as they built Detroit and the outlying areas. From the ironworkers who allowed skyscrapers to touch the heavens, to the plumbers who ensured the water kept flowing deep beneath, workers of nearly every stripe encountered materials, namely asbestos, which carried dangerous qualities which didn’t present themselves for years.

Invisible fibers from asbestos, when airborne, are inhaled and embed themselves into the lung tissue. They stay there, and over time can develop into diseases such as asbestosis, mesothelioma or lung cancer. After hardworking laborers carried the responsibility of building this region into what it is, it became time for someone to take responsibility for making these hardworking Michiganders sick.

In 1975, Michael Serling founded the law firm currently known as Serling & Abramson, P.C. Michael pioneered asbestos related mesothelioma and lung cancer litigation in Michigan. Over the past five decades the firm developed a specialty practice in asbestos litigation, and now employs 25 people.

Eric Abramson joined the firm in 1989 as an investigator. After seeing great promise in his work, Michael encouraged him to finish his undergraduate degree and continue on to law school. Eric did that, earning his law degree in 1997 and has fought for victims of asbestos-related diseases ever since.

The entire team at Serling & Abramson stands ready to fight for those in need.

For those affected by asbestos, getting their due compensation is a complex process that not every law firm is equipped to do effectively. Frequently, out-of-state “clearing house” firms which farm out asbestos-related claims end up failing to deliver the positive results that their clients deserve. A firm built and based in Michigan, specializing in the intricacies of state laws and regulations with a significant history of success in pursuing asbestos-related personal injury and wrongful death claims stands a better fighting chance against deep-pocketed litigants.

Serling & Abramson has represented over 5,000 plaintiffs with asbestos related diseases over the decades. The firm also successfully represented 335 Michigan school districts in a class action suit resulting in a $100 million+ judgement. That money went right to making schools safer for children, teachers and staff.

Through the years the firm has extended its reach to represent victims in other areas of complex litigation such as injuries caused by defective medical devices, Roundup weed killer cancer claims, auto accidents, sexual abuse claims, wrongful death cases and other injury lawsuits. These afflictions can unfortunately affect any person, and when they do it takes a firm like Serling & Abramson to bring justice to those responsible.

With offices located in Birmingham and Allen Park, the firm has built its reputation fighting for victims of asbestos disease and is proud to extend that fight to other litigation with the same compassion, protection and commitment to results that can and should always be expected from Serling & Abramson, P.C.

The Serling & Abramson firm has built an extensive listing of job sites and products to learn if you may be at risk.
