Running back Desmond Martin scored three touchdowns — two of them less than a minute apart — as Wayne State rallied past Malone, 39-15, in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football action Saturday in Canton, Ohio.

Wayne State (2-1, 1-1 GLIAC), hurt by turnovers, trailed 15-3 early in the second quarter and 15-10 at halftime, then outscored Malone (0-3, 0-3) 29-0 in the second half.

The Warriors took the lead for good in the third quarter, as quarterback Carl Roscoe connected on a 29-yard pass to wide receiver Michael Johnson for a touchdown. In the fourth quarter Martin scored his two touchdowns, both on 3-yard runs, and Romello Brown ran it in from 8 yards out for the final margin.

Martin finished with 200 yards on 29 carries. Roscoe finished 8-of-18 passing with three interceptions and the touchdown.

(At) Ferris State 42, Grand Valley 17: Jason Vander Laan completed 19-of-28 passes for 215 yards and four TDs, keeping the Bulldogs undefeated (3-0) and the Lakers winlesss (0-3). Vander Laan also rushed for 158 yards on 28 carries. Shakur Sanders caught four passes for 103 yards and three scores.

(At) Hillsdale 13, Northern Michigan 10: Mark Laprairie completed 16-of-38 passes for 244 yards and a touchdown for Hillsdale (2-1). Wyatt Jurasin rushed 28 times for 114 yards for Northern Michigan (1-2).

(At) Michigan Tech 26, Saginaw Valley 20: Michigan Tech (3-0) kept Saginaw Valley (0-3) winless as Charlie Leffingwell had 155 yards rushing on 29 carries and Brandon Cowie caught eight passes for 114 yards. Bryan Fobbs led Saginaw Valley with 120 receiving yards.

(At) Northwood 32, McKendree 27: Trailing 27-26, Northwood's Damian Nicholson had a 2-yard TD run with 7:31 left for the win. Northwood is 2-1 and McKendree is 0-3. Jared Briguglio rushed 23 times for 138 yards for Northwood.

Olivet 49, (at) Aurora 20: Olivet outgained Aurora 527-269 to improve to 2-1. Chris Jones led the Olivet ground attack, which accounted for 240 yards, with 109 on just 10 carries. He scored on a 3-yard run and a 23-yard run.

Hope 25, (at) Lakeland 22: Robert Kish completed 20-of-44 passes for 250 yards and three TDs for the Flying Dutchmen (2-1). Hope trailed 20-19 before Taylor Brynaert caught a 3-yard TD pass from Kish in the fourth quarter.

Albion 57, (at) Concordia (Wis.) 20: Dominic Bona completed 12-of-24 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns as Albion totaled 629 yards of total offense. Mike Czarnecki rushed for 155 yards on 20 carries for Albion (1-2).

(At) Wisconsin Lutheran 32, Kalamazoo 20: Aaron McGuire completed 24-of-36 passes for 227 yards and two TD, and Aaron McGuire rushed for 120 yards and one score, but it wasn't enough for Kalamazoo (0-3).

Alma 24, (at) Concordia (Ill.) 21: Alma (2-1) managed just 330 yards of total offense but held Concordia to 257. Gavin Smith and Sam Young led the Alma defense with 12 tackles each.

Adrian 23, (at) Benedictine (Ill.) 6: The defense forced seven turnovers as Adrian improved to 3-0. Senior cornerback Ellis Ewing led the way with a career-high three interceptions.
