National radio host Colin Cowherd, who was critical of Jim Harbaugh during the Michigan coach's interview on his program earlier this month, is leaving ESPN.

The Big Lead reports that ESPN wanted to keep Cowherd, but Cowherd is progressing toward a deal with Fox Sports.

Cowherd, 53, has been at ESPN since 2003.

"We've enjoyed a mutually beneficial run with Colin for over a decade," ESPN president John Skipper said. "He came to national prominence on ESPN with his unique perspective on sports and society. Endings also bring new beginnings, for ESPN and Colin, and we thank him and wish him the best."
