Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera returns after missing 35 games with a strained left calf as the Tigers open a three-game series with the Astros at Minute Maid Park (FSD/1270 AM and 97.1 FM). First pitch is 8:10 p.m.

Cabrera (.350, 15 HRs, 54 RBIs) had hit safely in 15 of his last 18 games and was batting .431 (28-for-65) during span when he left injured during the Tigers' July 3 game against the Blue Jays. He was placed on the DL July 4. The Tigers have gone 15-20 in his absence.

Right-hander Alfredo Simon starts for the Tigers. Left-hander Dallas Keuchel goes for the Astros.
