Hailey Dawson, 5, with her "Flexy-Hand 2," which was developed by UNLV engineering students.

Hailey Dawson threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Monday's Baltimore Orioles-Oakland Athletics game in Camden Yards with her Flexy-Hand 2, a 3-D printed prosthetic device.

The 5-year-old from Las Vegas was born with Poland syndrome, a rare birth defect that causes underdevelopment of the pectoral muscle on one side of the body and deformation of the hand.

UNLV engineering students heard of Hailey's plight and developed Flexy-Hand 2, and made the patent free for anyone to download.

Hailey was able meet to Manny Machado, to whom she threw the first pitch.
