UM's Zak Irvin to undergo back procedure, will miss 6-8 weeks
Michigan junior guard Zak Irvin will undergo a back procedure at the University of Michigan Hospital and is expected to six to eight weeks, the university announced Wednesday.
"We expect a 100 percent recovery for Zak after this procedure," UM basketball coach John Beilein said in a statement on the university's website. "We will not rush his return, but given Zak's work habits and determined attitude we anticipate he will be back on the court and at full speed sometime near the beginning of our season."
Last season, Irvin averaged 14.3 points, scoring in double figures in 27 of 32 games, including a career-best 28 at Northwestern on March 3.
