Detroit News predictions: MSU vs. Air Force

The Detroit News

Matt Charboneau, Angelique S. Chengelis, John Niyo and Bob Wojnowski of The Detroit News predict the outcome of Saturday's Michigan State vs. Air Force game.

Michigan State's LJ Scott hopes to build on his two-touchdown performance against Air Force on Saturday.

Matt Charboneau: Avoiding a letdown after last week’s big victory will be the goal and focusing on Air Force’s triple-option offensive attack should help. It could take a series or two to adjust but expect Michigan State’s defensive front to disrupt the option and the Spartans offense should be able to move the ball consistently. Michigan State 45-14

Angelique S. Chengelis: A week after a big victory at home against Oregon, Michigan State has a different challenge in Air Force. And it will be a challenge in terms of preparing for the offense and preparing for the proverbial “letdown” game. Still, the Spartans will find a way. Michigan State 35-24

John Niyo: It’s billed as a trap game, but Air Force won’t be able to handle Michigan State up front. The real danger here for the Spartans is an injury with all the cut blocking. Michigan State 38-9

Bob Wojnowski: This had Upset Alert plastered all over it, until Air Force lost starting QB Nate Romine with a knee injury. The Falcons option offense is difficult to defend no matter who runs it, but their smallish defense will struggle mightily to hang with the Spartans crunching offensive line. After the wild win over the Ducks, the Spartans can’t let down. They’ve been reminded so many times, I don’t think they will. Michigan State 38-17
