Detroit News predictions: Michigan vs. UNLV

The Detroit News

Angelique S. Chengelis, Matt Charboneau, John Niyo and Bob Wojnowski of The Detroit News predict the outcome of Saturday's Michigan-UNLV game.

Angelique S. Chengelis: This should allow Michigan to build on last week’s game against Oregon State. Expect the Wolverines to run the ball as much as possible, get Drake Johnson involved and control the clock. UNLV is uncertain about its starting quarterback, so it could be a long day for the Rebels. Michigan 41-3

Matt Charboneau: UNLV could be down a quarterback and have a defense that allowed 526 yards to UCLA. Expect Michigan to take advantage as the running game continues to gain steam and Jim Harbaugh wins his second straight at home ahead of next week’s tough matchup with BYU. Michigan 38-13

John Niyo: The line is still learning to play with power, and so are the backs. Saturday’s another chance to practice on both counts. This one shouldn’t take long. Michigan 41-13

Bob Wojnowski: The Runnin’ Rebels are more like the Throwin’ Rebels, but have quarterback injury issues. The Wolverines need another workmanlike effort, and you can bet they’ll try to pound away with De’Veon Smith to keep developing that offensive line. As long as Jake Rudock takes care of the football and the defense doesn’t get careless, this should be fairly straightforward. Michigan 45-10
