State roundup: Brown helps carry Wayne State to victory
Wayne State got four touchdown runs, including two by Romello Brown, in a 31-16 GLIAC victory over Walsh at Canton, Ohio, on Saturday.
Brown scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter and a 7-yard run in the fourth quarter, and finished with 161 yards on 25 carries.
Demetrius Stinson gained 111 yards on 19 carries including a 49-yard TD run for Wayne State's final score. Deiontae Nicholas opened the scoring for Wayne State (4-4, 3-4) with a 5-yard run in the first quarter.
D.J. Zezula completed 9 of 18 passes for 152 yards for the Warriors.
Jeremy Willison caught four passes for 101 yards and one TD for Walsh (2-6, 2-6).

(At) Ferris State 24, Michigan Tech 14: Jason Vander Laan passed for 179 yards, including a 70-yard TD strike, and ran in for another score to lead undefeated Ferris State. Vander Laan, who was 17-of-28, connected with Jake Lampman for a 70-yard scoring play in the second quarter to give Ferris State (7-0) a 17-7 lead.
Vander Laan's 14-yard run in the third restored Ferris State's 10-point lead. Tech's Alex Sherbinow scored from the 1 to make it 17-14. Sherbinow also had a 1-yard TD run first quarter. Tech falls to 5-2.
Ashland 41, (at) Northern Michigan 40: Adam Shaheen scored on a 10-yard pass play from quarterback Travis Tarnowski with 7 seconds left as Ashland (8-0) remained unbeaten. Shaye Brown was 30-of-49 for 371 yards, including 3 TDs, for Northern (4-4).
(At) Northwood 21, Saginaw Valley State 14: Jared Briguglio scored on runs of 2 and 4 yards and Mark Morris rushed for 215 yards, including a TD, to lead Northwood (4-4). Brad Odeman Jr. passed for 235 and 2 TDs for Saginaw Valley (1-7).
(At) Hillsdale 38, Tiffin 24: Joe Reverman ran for 276 yards and two touchdowns to lead Hillsdale (2-6). Chance Stewart was 11-of-17 for 154 yards, including TD passes to Timothy Mills and Brian Newman. Antonio Pipkin threw for 302 yards and 3 TDs for Tiffin (5-3).
(At) Grand Valley State 52, Findlay 7: Bart Williams completed 22 of 36 passes for 383 yards and four touchdowns, and Jamie Potts caught six passes for 150 yards and two TDs for Grand Valley State (7-1, 6-1). Findlay is 4-4, 3-4.

Trine 55, (at) Albion 51: Trine rallied for 21 unanswered points, capped by Gage Corner's 33-yard TD pass reception with 21 seconds left, to hand Albion (6-1) its first loss. Trine (4-3) recovered the onside kick after Mark Wilson's 8-yard TD to set up the winning drive. Dominic Bona was 21-of-31 for 357 yards, including 5 TDs for Albion. Joe Mayone had five catches for 121 yards and 2 TDs.
Olivet 55, (at) Kalamazoo 21: Joe Braden passed for 255 yards and 4 TDs and ran one in from 95 yards to lead unbeaten Olivet (7-0). Jerome Washington ran for 154 yards, including a TD, while Andre Houston and Nolan Briggs also had rushing touchdowns. Elijah Hamilton-Wray had two TD catches for Kalamazoo (2-5).
Adrian 30, (at) Wisconsin-Lutheran 12: Chris Adams' 53-yard interception return for a TD as Adrian (4-3) led 16-6 at halftime. Gage Smith was 9-of-18 for 159 yards, including a TD. Dino DeGeorge threw 2 TD passes for Wisconsin-Lutheran (2-7).
Alma 35, (at) Hope 24: Dylan Zaborowski completed 34 of 49 passes for 441 yards and two touchdowns, and Daniel Hugan caught 16 passes for 235 yards and one touchdown for Alma (4-3, 2-2). Zac Boersema carried 21 times for 115 yards and two touchdowns for Hope (2-5, 0-3).
