Toledo Walleye to wear ‘Don Cherry’ jerseys for charity

The Detroit News

The Toledo Walleye apparently are big fans of Don Cherry.

The ECHL team will pay tribute to the former NHL coach, who is now a legendary hockey analyst for CBC, with Cherry-inspired uniforms for its game Jan. 23 against the Utah Grizzlies at the Huntington Center.

The jerseys, checkered in blue and yellow and fashioned to look like one of Cherry’s loud sports coats, will be sold at the game via a live auction after the game, with the proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society and the Walleye Wishing Well.
