United States U-17 hockey team falls to Czech Republic in OT

Jan Kern’s power-play goal in overtime — his second goal of the game — lifted the Czech Republic to a 4-3 victory over the United States U-17 team Tuesday in the Five Nations Tournament at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth.
Evan Barratt’s power-play goal at 2:29 of the third period for the U.S. tied the game 3-3. Josh Norris (Oxford native and University Michigan commit) and Jacob Tortora also scored for the U.S.
Ondrej Machala and Jan Hladonik also had goals for the Czech Republic, which was outshot 52-18.
The U.S. under-18 team plays Russia at 9 a.m. Wednesday at USA Hockey Arena.
