The Michigan State men's basketball team stood firm in the Associated Press Top 25.

The Spartans (21-5), who had their four-game win streak snapped Tuesday in an 82-81 overtime loss at Purdue before trouncing Indiana in an 88-69 win Sunday, remained at No. 8 in Monday’s new rankings.

Michigan State also stood pat at No. 9 in the coaches poll for the second straight week, but failed to garner any first-place votes.

Michigan (19-7), which picked up a marquee 61-56 win over then-No. 18 Purdue on Saturday, received 29 votes in the coaches poll and 17 in the AP poll.

Villanova (22-3) is No. 1 in the AP poll for the second consecutive week and received 44 first-place votes from the 65-member national media panel.

Kansas (21-4) jumped four spots to No. 2 with 21 first-place votes, followed by Oklahoma (20-4), Iowa (20-5) and North Carolina (21-4) to round out the top five.
