CBSSports.com and ESPN.com both have Michigan State listed as a No. 2 seed in their latest bracketology released on Monday. Both also have Michigan on the bubble as a No. 10 seed.
Jerry Palm of CBSSports.com has the Spartans traveling to St. Louis in the Midwest region to face Stephen F. Austin in the first round, where they would await the winner of Texas Tech and Butler.
ESPN.com’s Joe Lunardi has Michigan State squaring off against IPFW in the East region at the same site, and playing the winner of California and Seton Hall in the round of 32.
For Michigan, Palm has the Wolverines playing Seton Hall in one of the four play-in games with the winner advancing to face USC in the East region in Raleigh, N.C. A win would most likely pit Michigan against No. 2 seed North Carolina in the next round. Lunardi has the Wolverines playing Wichita State in St. Louis in the South region, where No. 2 seed Xavier would likely await should they advance.
Palm also has Wisconsin as another Big Ten team on the bubble, with the Badgers facing George Washington in another play-in game for the No. 10 seed in the South region. The winner would move on to face Notre Dame in Oklahoma City. Wisconsin will host Michigan Sunday at 6 p.m. in a game where both teams will be fighting for tournament candidacy.
