Could a Major League Soccer team be in Detroit’s future?
MLS Commissioner Don Garber mentioned Detroit when he talked about possible expansion candidates Thursday while visiting Sacramento, California.
“What I would say is the next round of expansion is likely happening in 2020,” said Garber, who added the league could expand from 20 to 28 teams..“Many of [the conversations] are advanced. Detroit, [a] major market that has a downtown stadium project.”
Garber also named Sacramento, San Diego, St. Louis, San Antonio and Austin as expansion candidates.
