Hanks in store for big payday after betting on long shot
Actor Tom Hanks could be walking the Green Mile after deciding to have a flutter, as they say in English betting parlance, on English Premier League's Leicester City, according to BBC.com.
Hanks said he put 100 pounds, or $145, on the soccer team to win the title at the start of the season. Oddsmakers had the Foxes at 5,000 to 1 to win the Premier League crown at the season's start.
With three matches left, Leicester holds a seven-point lead over second-place Tottenham. Hanks is a fan of Aston Villa, which is owned by American Randy Lerner. It's a good thing he didn't bet his heart, though. Aston Villa is expected to finish last in the league and will be relegated to the Championship, English soccer's second tier.
