Michigan Olympians take the field Tuesday

The Detroit News
Dylan Bosch, a native of Johannesburg, is making his first trip to the Olympics. He won four Big Ten titles as a senior this spring at Michigan.

Time is running out on some Michigan Olympians.

Rowing ends Saturday. So, too, does swimming (at least the pool portion of the schedule).

So that means Tuesday’s events that involve three athletes with Michigan ties are critical in their medal dreams.

Here’s a look at their schedule as well as the rest of the Michigan contingent in action Tuesday (Team USA unless noted):

* Dylan Bosch (University of Michigan): South Africa swimming, 4x200 free relay, noon and 9 p.m.

* Michael Gbinije (Pistons): Nigeria basketball vs. Lithuania, 6 p.m.

* Olaseni “Shane” Lawal (Southfield, Oakland U., Wayne State): Nigeria basketball vs. Lithuania, 6 p.m.

* Anders Lie Nielsen (Ann Arbor, University of Michigan): Denmark swimming, 4x200 free relay, noon and 9 p.m.

* Ellen Tomek (Flushing, University of Michigan): Rowing, women’s double sculls, 9:10 a.m.

* Shelina Zadorsky (University of Michigan): Canada women’s soccer vs. Germany, 3 p.m.
