Michigan Olympians take the field Thursday

The top-ranked American women look to move one step closer to a first gold when they take on Serbia in the volleyball semifinals.
The landscape of the tournament changed after two-time defending Olympic champion Brazil made an early exit at China’s hands.
Serbia lost in four sets to the U.S. and Leland’s Alisha Glass during pool play, but pulled off a surprising five-set victory at last year’s World Cup in Japan that forced the Americans to qualify for Rio in January.
Here’s a look at the Michigan contingent in action (Team USA unless noted):
* Nate Brannen (Michigan): Track & field, 1,500 semifinals, 7:45 p.m.
* Alisha Glass (Leland): Women’s volleyball semifinals vs. Serbia, noon
* Adeline Gray (Marquette): Wrestling, freestyle (75kg) vs. Colombia’s Andrea Olaya, 9:16 a.m.
* Helen Maroulis (Marquette): Wrestling, freestyle (53kg) vs. Ukraine’s Yuliya Khavaldzhy, 9:08 a.m.
* Nick Willis (Ann Arbor, University of Michigan): Track & field, 1,500 semifinals, 7:45 p.m.
