Sunday's soccer roundup: AFC Ann Arbor blanks DCFC

The Detroit News
Detroit City FC lost to AFC Ann Arbor for the first time in their brief rivalry on Sunday.

Dario Suarez scored twice to power AFC Ann Arbor past Detroit City FC, 2-0, and remain undefeated in National Premier Soccer League play Sunday at Hollway Field.

DCFC (0-1-2) controlled the play throughout much of the first half before Suarez slipped behind the defense and gave the Mighty Oak (4-0-0) a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute.

Then after both teams created chances early in the second half, Suarez struck again and slotted a shot into the top corner in the 61st minute to give Ann Arbor a 2-0 advantage.

It was Ann Arbor's first win over DCFC after the teams played to a 1-1 draw and Le Rouge prevailed, 3-1, in the second meeting in league play last season.
