DCFC's Brogan Shrimpton finished with a hat trick in an 11-0 demolition of FC Indiana on Sunday.

After a pair of lackluster poor first-half performances in their opening two National Premier Soccer League encounters, Detroit City FC went on a rampage to christen what turned out to be an 11-0 romp over FC Indiana on Sunday at Legacy Sports Club in Lafayette, Ind.

Le Rouge (2-0-1, 6 points) bombarded the hosts with five goals in the first 45 minutes en route to their second straight victory. Stephen Carroll (14th minute), Danny Deakin (21’, 43’), Roddy Green (30’) and Shawn Lawson (31’) contributed to the first-half onslaught.

Brogan Shrimpton, who entered as a second-half sub for Lawson, piled on the misery for FC Indiana by completing a hat trick. He scored in the 74th, 76th and 80th minutes during the rout.

Rafa Mentzingen (71’ and 79’) added a pair of second-half goals while Trevor Amann (58’) also scored.

Goalkeeper Fernando Pina, who shut out FC Columbus on Friday, was replaced by Max Jewett in the 66th minute to combine for the clean sheet.

DCFC coach Ben Pirmann chastised his team during halftime Friday after an uninspiring first-half effort but had no qualms with his team’s inspired play against Indiana, especially in 90-plus temperatures.

“I think the opponent struggled this year, but I told the team they don’t need to worry about anything except what they can control,” Pirmann said. “They had really good urgency and they got a couple of things early and the floodgates kind of opened up.”

“I was more satisfied with the mentality more than the outcome. If we play hard and we play focused, we will beat a lot of teams. If we play selfish or entitled and don’t work hard, and think if we just show up and play better than other teams, then we’re not going win games.”

DCFC hosts FC Indiana (0-5) on Friday at Keyworth Stadium. Kickoff is 7:30.
