Red Wings take wild preseason win from Blackhawks

In a wild exhibition game in Chicago, the Red Wings defeated the Blackhawks 8-6 on Tuesday night.

Andreas Athanasiou and Thomas Vanek each had two goals – Athanasiou added two assists – and Luke Witkowski, Darren Helm, Anthony Mantha and Dylan Larkin (shorthanded) added goals.

Jimmy Howard stopped 30 of 36 shots.

The Red Wings, now 5-0-0 during the exhibition season, play Wednesday in Boston.
