East Lansing — Michigan State has a new addition to this season’s roster

Steven Izzo, son of coach Tom Izzo, is a walk-on with the Spartans for the 2019-20 season.

Tom Izzo and his son Steven cut down the net in celebration as MSU beats UM, 64-48, and claims the Big Ten title at Breslin arena in 2010.

Listed at 5-foot-8, 150 pounds on the Spartans’ roster, Steven Izzo played in high school at Lansing Catholic but didn’t see significant action. He went through summer workouts with Michigan State and chose to join the team instead of serving in another role such as a manager.

Transfer forward Joey Hauser is listed at 6-9, 220 pounds and will wear No. 20.

Michigan State’s only exhibition game is Oct. 29 at home against Albion. The Spartans then begin the regular season against Kentucky in the Champions Classic on Nov. 5 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The first regular-season home game is Nov. 10 against Binghamton.
