Doug Griffin scored on runs of 2, 5 and 1 yards while Desmond Martin rushed for 120 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown dash, in Wayne State's 45-27 homecoming victory over Northwood Saturday in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football action.

Griffin's three TDs came in the first half while Jay Hayes scored on a 23-yard run and Paul Graham added a 37-yard field goal as Wayne State (3-1, 2-1 GLIAC) build a 31-7 halftime lead.

Michael Johnson scored on a 29-yard pass from Carl Roscoe in third quarter for the Warriors. Roscoe was 13-of-21 for 191 yards and one TD. He was intercepted once.

Damian Nicholson had TD catches of 19, 16 and 11 yards for Northwood (2-2, 1-2 GLIAC). Northwood quarterback Mark Morris was 16-of-30 for 217 yards, including four TDs.


Ferris State 47, (at) Saginaw Valley State 13: Jason Vander Laan threw four touchdown passes and ran in for two as Ferris State started the season 4-0 (3-0 GLIAC) for the first time since 1995. Vander Laan was 20-of-27 for 257 yards. Kenny Feyh had TD catches of 12 and 6 yards while Vander Laan connected with Jajuan Pollock for a 56-yard scoring strike with no time left in the second quarter. Vander Laan, who was 20-of-27 for 257 yards passing, also had TD runs of 2 and 4 yards. Allante Gardner had a 12-yard TD catch and Josh Holton scored on an 8-yard run for Saginaw Valley (0-3, 0-4 GLIAC).

(At) Indianapolis 24, Hillsdale 19: A Hillsdale drive stalled inside the Indianapolis' 20 with 1:20 left as the Chargers' dropped their second game of the season. Alex Fogt scored on a 4-yard pass from Mark LaPraire with 8:41 remaining to start the rally. Hillsdale (2-2) relied on Steven Matte, who kicked field goals from 34, 32, 31 and 26 yards, to stay with Indianapolis (3-1).

(At) Grand Valley 66, Lake Erie 28: Chris Robinson scored on runs of 6, 5 and 2 yards as Grand Valley State amassed 640 yards in offense. Kirk Spencer rushed for 143 yards, including two TDs, on 15 carries and Jamie Potts had TD catches of 24 and 25 yards for Grand Valley (1-3, 1-2 GLIAC).

(At) Michigan Tech 31, Northern Michigan 23: Charlie Leffingwell scored on a 31-yard run and Garrett Mead added a 39-yard field goad as Tech (3-0, 3-0 GLIAC) stormed back against its Upper Peninsula rival. Leffingwell also scored on a 2-yard run. Austin Young (16 yards) and Marcus Tucker (41 yards) had TD catches for Northern Michigan (1-2, 0-2 GLIAC).
