MAC roundup: Western rallies to beat Bowling Green
Bowling Green, Ohio — Zach Terrell threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns as Western Michigan rallied in the second half to beat Bowling Green 26-14 on Saturday.
Jarvion Franklin ran for 149 yards and a score for the Broncos (4-3, 2-1 Mid-American Conference).
Terrell's first scoring pass went to Corey Davis early in the second quarter to give Western Michigan its first lead of the game, 10-7. His second was a 63-yarder to Darius Phillips early in the third for a 19-14 advantage.
Bowling Green took an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 2-yard run by Andre Givens. Givens scored again just before halftime and the Falcons (5-3, 3-1) led 14-13 at the break.
But the Broncos rallied in the second half with Terrell's TD pass to Phillips and Franklin's 22-yard rushing touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
The Falcons' James Knapke was 20-of-33 for 139 yards passing.
(At) Massachusetts 36, Eastern Michigan 14: Shadrach Abrokwah had four rushing touchdowns to lead Massachusetts to a 36-14 win over Eastern Michigan.
UMass scored the final 16 points to pull away. Abrokwah's 4-yard touchdown run in the third quarter extended the Minutemen's lead to 27-14.
Abrokwah ran 24 times for 135 yards and Blake Frohnapfel threw for 337 yards for UMass (2-6, 2-2). Abrokwah had scoring plays of 17, 16 and two 4-yard runs. UMass outgained Eastern Michigan 562 yards to 280 in total offense.
Bronson Hill caught a 34-yard touchdown pass from Reginald Bell Jr. to bring Eastern Michigan (2-5, 1-2) within 20-14 at 8:32 in the third.
Bell Jr. was 10 of 21 for 147 yards and two touchdowns for Eastern Michigan. The Eagles were hurt by three turnovers, two lost fumbles and one interception.
Ball State 32, (at) Central Michigan 29: Scott Secor made four field goals, including a 55-yarder with 17 seconds left, to lift Ball State over Central Michigan 32-29 on Saturday.
Down 26-14 at halftime, Central Michigan tied it at 29 when Cooper Rush completed a play-action pass to Titus Davis for an 8-yard touchdown with 2:22 to play.
Ball State (2-5, 1-2) answered on its next series. KeVonn Mabon caught a key 9-yard pass from Jack Milas on third down to extend the drive and give the Cardinals a first-down at the Central Michigan 38. Milas completed a 1-yard pass on first down, then threw two incomplete passes before Secor booted the winner.
Jahwan Edwards ran for 98 yards and two touchdowns for Ball State.
Rush was 20 of 32 for 245 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions to lead Central Michigan (4-4, 2-2). Thomas Rawls gained 167 yards on 32 carries and scored one touchdown.
