State roundup: Wayne State rallies, beats Hillsdale

Wayne State scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to take a 20-13 victory over visiting Hillsdale on Saturday.

The Warriors (7-4, 6-4) trailed 13-7 at halftime and that score held as the fourth quarter opened, but quarterback Carl Roscoe gave them the lead with a 12-yard run with 7:11 to play.

Roscoe completed 14 of 17 passes for 120 yards and rushed for another 38. Desmond Martin gained 76 yards on 23 carries.

Marl Laprarie completed 20 of 31 passes for 192 yards and a touchdown for Hillsdale (4-7, 4-6).

Ferris State 46, (at) Walsh 42: Ferris State (11-0, 10-0) wrapped up the league championship by rallying from a 42-32 deficit in the last 9:38. Jamaal Jackson caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Jason Vander Laan with 7:25 left, and Vander Laan gave the Bulldogs the lead with a 1-yard run with 36 seconds to play. Vander Laan finished 18 of 27 for 260 yards and two touchdowns, and carried 23 times for 101 yards and three touchdowns, becoming the school's all-time leading rusher. Walsh finished 4-7, 3-7.

(At) Northwood 41, Malone 17: Northwood (5-6, 4-6) jumped to a 28-7 lead in the second quarter and was never challenged thereafter. Mark Morros completed 10 of 16 passes for 203 yards and one touchdown, and Vashon Nutt ran eight times for 81 yards and two TDs. Malone finished 1-10, 1-9.

Grand Valley State 21, (at) Saginaw Valley 3: Heath Parling completed 10 of 25 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown, and Terrell Dorsey gained 86 yards and a TD on 17 carries for Grand Valley (6-5, 6-4). Tyler Palka threw for 137 yards, completing 14 of 28 for Saginaw Valley (2-9, 2-8).

(At) Michigan Tech 59, Lake Erie 14: Tyler Scarlett completed 10 of 16 for 201 yards and three touchdowns, and Charlie Leffingwell rushed 18 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns for Michigan Tech (9-1, 9-1. Lake Erie finished 4-7, 3-7.

(At) Northern Michigan 66, Findlay 38: Shaye Brown completed 19 of 28 passes for 490 yards and five touchdowns, and Terrance Dye gained 117 yards on 21 carries and scored four TDs for Northern (3-8, 2-8). Findlay finished 5-6, 4-6.

Adrian 40, (at) Trine 7: Adrian (8-2, 5-1) wrapped up its second league title in the last three years. Emmanuel Stewart ran for 161 yards and two touchdowns and Dae'Von Robinson ran for 125 yards for Adrian. Trine finished 6-4, 4-2.

(At) Olivet 34, Alma 21: Olivet (6-4, 3-3) took control with three touchdowns in the second quarter. Braden Black completed 13 of 25 for 146 yards and three touchdowns, and Damorria Lilly rushed 34 times for 144 yards and a touchdown. For Alma (2-8, 0-6) Dylan Zaborowski completed 17 of 29 passes for 229 yards and two TDs, both to Tyler Watters.

Kalamazoo 30, (at) Hope 29: Jacob Hardy won it with a 22-yard field goal with 2 seconds left. Alex White completed 32 of 50 passes for 355 yards and two TDs for Kalamazoo (2-8, 2-4). Robert Kish completed 20 of 38 for 297 yards and three TDs for Hope (6-4, 3-3).

(At) Albion 62, Aurora 13: Dominic Bona completed 27 of 39 passes for 345 yards and six TDs, and Mike Czarnecki rushed for 127 yards for Albion (6-4). Aurora finished 1-9.
