Jenna Grasmeyer had 22 kills as the Hope College women's volleyball team won its first national championship, defeating Emory (Georgia) University, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 24-26, 15-8 in the Division III title match at Freeman Center in Newport News, Virginia.

After dropping the fourth set, Hope (34-2) dominated the fifth, opening with the first seven points to put Emory (39-4) in a hole from which it couldn't recover. Emory pulled within 10-7 in the final set, but Hope responded with four straight points, including back-to-back kills from Anna Lynch, to reach the doorstep to the title.

Amy Vanderstoep finished with 19 kills for Hope, while Lynch added 16. Allie Mitchell had 19 digs.

Hope tied the program record for victories, matching the 2009 team that reached the national semifinals. Emory was seeking its first national title since 2008.
